Mobile Phone Software/Firmware Faults
Mobile phone software/firmware faults are usually easy to diagnose and quite easy to rectify most of the time. Mobile phone software/firmware faults can be identified by the following symptoms:
- The phone switches itself off intermittently.
- The phone halts/freezes.
- Certain phone menus/features are no longer accessible.
- The screen flickers or blinks on and off.
- Could there be a fault with the phones battery? - A faulty battery can cause all sorts of problems with a mobile phone. If you have a friend or relative who has the same phone, try it and see if the problem still occurs.
- Is the phones battery charged? - Lack of charge in a battery can cause the phone to activate safety features that will stop you from accessing certain phone features until the battery has been charged.
- Have you tried a 'Master Reset' or 'Master Clear'? - Most modern mobile phones have a 'Master Reset' or 'Master Clear' function. These functions allow you to reset the phone back to it's original state and clear the phones memory. Like any computer, a mobile phone may start to struggle after a certain period of time and usage. Please make sure you back up any important information on your phone before attempting to use the 'Master Reset' or 'Master Clear' functions. In most cases using these functions will erase all information (e.g. numbers, sms messages, photo's, video, music etc).
